Series 2: 14. Jam #34: Bouncing Bhangra

YolanDa Brown and her house band, The Band Jaminals, entertain an audience of children - the Band Jammers - with live music and special guests!\n\nYolanDa gets everyone moving with This Song Belongs to You, which is a call and response song. YolanDa sings Band-Jammalam, and the Band Jammers respond with Bing, Bang Boo!\n\nIn this episode, YolanDa welcomes Amrit Kaur to the Band Jam. Amrit demonstrates an Indian instrument called the sarangi, which is a very special instrument because it sounds like a woman’s voice. Amrit talks about her love of Punjabi folk music, and the Band Jammers and YolanDa try out some fun Bhangra dance moves.\n\nThe Fact Jam then further explores the sarangi, which we discover can sometimes have lots and lots of strings – too many to count!\n\nAmrit Kaur then performs on the sarangi, before being invited by YolanDa and the Band Jammers to take part in the Big Band Jam at the end of the programme.\n\nNext, there's a short film that follows some lucky Band Jammers meeting music producer Hannah V and helping her to write a new song.\n\nIt’s then time for YolanDa and the Band Jaminals to perform with Amrit for the Big Band Jam, and everyone gets moving as they sing the song Summertime.
