Series 2: 15. Jam #35: Exotic Instruments

YolanDa Brown and her house band, The Band Jaminals, entertain an audience of children - the Band Jammers - with live music and special guests!\n\nYolanDa gets everyone moving with the Clapping Song, encouraging the Band Jammers to clap and dance lively and fast.\n\nJoining YolanDa in this episode are rock band Flamingods. Flamingods explain how they experiment with many different kinds of music and use different instruments that they collect on their travels around the world.\n\nYolanDa and the Band Jammers play a game that looks at all the different countries Flamingods’ instruments come from. They find out that the darbuka is from Egypt, the taishogoto is from Japan and the saz guitar is from Turkey.\n\nThe Fact Jam then further explores the saz guitar, and we discover it was used by British rock bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.\n\nFlamingods get everyone moving with a brilliant performance, before being invited by YolanDa and the Band Jammers to take part in the Big Band Jam at the end of the show.\n\nNext there's a short film which follows Band Jammers Teerth and Baillie as they meet Radio 1’s Greg James and learn how to be radio presenters.\n\nThe Flamingods then join YolanDa and the Band Jaminals for a special Big Band Jam, and they get everyone dancing with a performance of Space Ship Groovin'.
