Izzie Balmer is taking JJ Chalmers to a place close to his heart – Balerno, the village just outside Edinburgh where he grew up. They are on their way to help pharmacist Lubna take the next steps on her journey to becoming a full-time actress, comedienne and writer. However, with only a day to find and fix items to take to auction, the pressure is on.\n\nHaving lost three family members to heart conditions, Lubna was led to re-evaluate her life after her own heart attack. With her children grown and flown, Lubna took the huge step of pursuing her life's ambition to take to the stage as a performer. Now, she is downsizing to a smaller home to concentrate on her new career. But first, the memories and mementos of the last 24 years have to find new homes.\n\nThe money raised will also allow Lubna to honour her father, a brilliant scientist who died tragically young. She longs to set up a scholarship in his name in his native Pakistan to help a young person get into university and keep her dad's name alive.\n\nAuctioneer Izzie discovers a collection of jewellery, including Pakistani gold and pearls, a classic guitar, a trombone and a pretty mandolin, as well as a child's desk, a pool table and a pair of guitar amps. Boxes and boxes of collectibles and ceramics are just waiting to go to auction, but with every item holding so many memories, will Lubna be able to let them go?\n\nMeanwhile, JJ rescues a garden swing chair that has seen better days. It's one of his biggest challenges, and he is forced to call in reinforcements in the shape of his mum to get it ready for auction. He also tackles a dining table that would not look out of place in a James Bond movie, but will his lots be licensed to thrill on auction day?\n\nAs the auction gets under way, Izzie is on song, accepting bids on the range of musical instruments. She strikes gold with the jewellery, and there's a surprise bidder for one of JJ's items.
