There are around 400,000 deafblind people in the UK, so to mark Deafblind Awareness Week, Yvonne and Julian are joined in the studio by Alison Sedon, who is raising awareness about the deafblind community. She also shares her epic wing-walking story, where she was strapped to the wing of a vintage biplane and swept through the skies at speeds of up to 135mph – one brave lady!\n\nWe are also joined by deaf historian Peter Brown. His new research has uncovered a group of six people who may be at the centre of modern BSL and can be traced as far back as 1782 in London.\n\nAnd finally, we pay tribute to Ruth Myers MBE, who was instrumental in campaigning to get subtitles onto our screens. The first subtitled programme was broadcast in 1979, and by 2008, 100% of BBC programmes were subtitled.
