With travel restricted due to Covid-19, William Grint shows us how a staycation can be just as fun as a holiday abroad.\n\nWilliam takes a tour around Honister Slate Mine and learns more about what life would have been like as a miner. After braving the hair-raising Via Ferrata obstacle course, William meets his guide, Nicola, for some iconic gingerbread at Grasmere.\n\nNicola takes William to Hadrian’s Wall, where they learn about the Romans who settled in Cumbria. Nicole then takes William to the Derwent Pencil Museum, where they learn about a secret operation that took place during World War II to make pencils with a secret compartment for maps if soldiers got lost in Europe.\n\nAs their time in the Lake District nears its end, Nicola and William walk up Orrest’s Head, a trail that inspired Alfred Wainwright to document walks in the Lake District. The pair then wrap up their time with a spot of ghyll scrambling. With his fear of cold water, how will William fare?
