In a big year for sports, we learn the art of ice-skating through Callum Mills- a figure skater who is training for the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Russia next year.\n\nYvonne and Julian welcome a special guest, actor Millicent Simmonds, who plays Reagan in the film A Quiet Place. Yvonne and Julian find out from Millicent what it is like to be on set with CGI monsters, how she got into acting and her hopes for future deaf talent in Hollywood.\n\nWith it being National Afternoon Tea week from 9 to 15 August, it felt apt to organise a masterclass with pastry chef Sam Widnall, who appeared on Bake Off: The Professionals. Sam takes us through the steps to make lemon meringue pie at home!\n\nLast, but not least, with the rise in popularity of home DNA test kits and ancestry websites, we learn through Geraldine O’Halloran, who is fourth generation deaf on her mother’s side, how it is tricky but rewarding to trace your family’s deaf history. Following on from Geraldine’s interview, Yvonne has a chat with the National Archives to find out how deaf people can access their family records, and she even learns some surprising facts about her own family history!
