A veritable who’s who of music graced the Top of the Pops studio in 2003. \n\nBeyoncé’s first solo single set the dance floor on fire, Sugababes brought swagger to the studio, and Coldplay proved their chops as modern masters of music. OutKast had us shaking it, Rachel Stevens’s first solo single outside S Club 7 gave us the ultimate kiss-off, and Electric Six were high octane and high voltage. Girls Aloud showed they were much more than talent show winners, and The Flaming Lips brought their unique mix of furry costumes and robot rock to the studio – with a stunning surprise bassist dressed in a dolphin suit. \n\nControversial couple (except they weren’t) t.A.T.u. reprised their chart-topping hit and scandalising stage act – including the kiss, though pre-watershed TOTP tactfully steered the cameras elsewhere. The Libertines gave their only TOTP performance with the full line-up, Panjabi MC put the bang into bhangra, and The Darkness brought stadium rock to the studio. Mis-Teeq got the crowd jumping, Madonna gave a masterclass, and Jamelia wowed with Superstar vibes. Busted bounced, Black Eyed Peas kicked with a call to action, and Gary Jules and Michael Andrews stole the Christmas number one with the Donnie Darko theme tune, backed all the way by Radio 2.\n\nFeaturing Beyoncé, Sugababes, Coldplay, Outkast, Rachel Stevens, Electric Six, Girls Aloud, The Flaming Lips, t.A.T.u., The Libertines, Panjabi MC, The Darkness, Mis-Teeq, Madonna, Jamelia, Busted, Black Eyed Peas, Gary Jules and Michael Andrews.
