Its western border adjoins Kielder Forest, one of the largest man-made forests in Europe.\n\nThis vast natural expanse is a haven for numerous bird species, including the osprey, once extinct in the UK but now returning annually from Africa to breed. The park is also rich in history, including extensive stretches of Hadrian’s Wall.
