Once a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror, the New Forest is now a unique mosaic of open heathlands, ancient woodlands, coastline and picturesque villages. The national park is home to the New Forest’s famous ponies, deer, rare bird species and reptiles. The traditional grazing practices of generations of commoners sustain this unique landscape, with their ponies and pigs roaming freely throughout the park.
