A film that celebrates the lyricism of Virginia Woolf's writing and, through the memories of her friends and relations, paints a portrait of a dedicated artist and a unique companion. It also tries to show how the contradictions in her character were triumphantly resolved in her art. \n\nAmong the many people taking part in the film are Elizabeth Bowen, Lord David Cecil, Duncan Grant, Raymond Mortimer, George Rylands and Virginia Woolf's nephew, Professor Quentin Bell.
