The Antiques Roadshow is in Yorkshire at Lister Park and Cartwright Hall in Bradford, which is City of Culture for 2025.\n\nJoanna Hardy is charmed by a gold brooch in the shape of a bunny, while Mark Smith gets to look inside an autograph book bearing the signature of American Civil War general – and later president – Ulysses S Grant, bought for $1 in a shopping mall.\n\nMarc Allum hears the fascinating tale of a carved stone head discovered in a back garden, which was then stolen from the owner but mysteriously returned years later.\n\nFrances Christie is charmed by a portrait of a dog by Bradford-born artist Wright Barker – one of the foremost painters of domestic animals during the Victorian period – which was given by the artist to his plumber in lieu of payment. \n\nMatthew Haley discovers a rare British newspaper from 1926, published by the government during the General Strike, and featuring the signatures of both Winston Churchill and the then prime minister Stanley Baldwin.\n\nJoanna Hardy challenges Fiona Bruce to ‘Basic, Better, Best’ with three exquisite items of art deco jewellery ranging in price from £20,000 to a staggering £100,000. Meanwhile, Richard Price is thrilled to see a 1970s Patek Philippe watch made from glistening ‘tiger’s eye’ gemstones and diamonds, which was given as a wedding present to the owner.\n \nInside Cartwright Hall, Fiona Bruce visits an exhibition dedicated to Bradford-born art superstar David Hockney, finding out how his formative years in the city and early experimentation helped inform the later work, for which he became internationally acclaimed.
