The roadshow comes from Belfast’s Botanic Gardens, where treasures include a rare teddy bear made to mark the sinking of the Titanic, an early work by celebrated Irish artist Nora McGuinness and the dress medals of Blair ‘Paddy’ Mayne, one of the founding soldiers of the SAS.\n\nBook expert Justin Croft is thrilled to find an early edition of one of the world’s best-loved children’s books, Guess How Much I Love You, and Ronnie Archer-Morgan is delighted to see a stunning example of Native American jewellery.\n\nMiscellany expert Raj Bisram is reminded of how the great guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, celebrated his birthday when he visited the city, and Will Farmer is excited to see a decorative jug by a celebrated Italian ceramicist.\n\nFiona Bruce discovers a gold and ruby salamander that was found on a ship sunk during the Spanish Armada in 1588. The tiny treasure is part of a collection held at the neighbouring Ulster Museum. Sailors believed it would protect them against fire.\n\nCharlotte McReynolds, curator from National Museums NI, shows Fiona their stunning hand-embroidered floral Lennox quilt, made in the early 1700s, and miscellaneous expert Katherine Wright shares the story behind some fine pieces of Belfast glassware.
