As winter gets under way, Dougie is at Auchnacarry Estate in Lochaber, where he takes a walk in the woods. He goes in search of the UK’s Tree of the Year, a mighty ancient oak that has recently been rediscovered and has captured the public’s imagination.\n\nShahbaz visits a farm near Crianlarich, where scientists are measuring methane emissions from sheep and looking at ways of reducing them. Rosie is on the Black Isle in Cromarty. She climbs a ladder to meet a man keeping the traditional craft of thatching alive.\n\nArlene is in the Borders, where she meets a farming family who have perfected a way of outwintering cattle that is also great for the ground. And ahead of this year’s BBC Food and Farming Awards, Dougie meets another of the shortlisted entries in the BBC Scotland Local Food Hero category.
