The roadshow visits Thirlestane Castle in the Scottish Borders, where treasures include a Rod Stewart gold disc, a silver chalice thought to have been found in a potato field, and a gold, enamelled snuffbox gifted by a Russian tsar.\n\nKatherine Wright and Charlotte Riordan discover two artworks featuring Thirlestane Castle itself – a 19th-century embroidered sampler and a rare watercolour by Borders artist Tom Scott.\n\nAdam Schoon learns about an ancient local equestrian tradition called common riding, while Matthew Haley gets to compare two signed Harry Potter novels brought in by separate owners.\n\nMilitaria expert Mark Smith meets a budding seven-year-old medal historian, and Raj Bisram finds out how legendary Scottish footballer Sandy Jardine came to own a gold disc that once belonged to rock star Rod Stewart.\n\nFiona Bruce looks into the history of the famous Paisley shawl, named after the local Borders town, and reveals the personal stories behind three antiques belonging to silverware expert Gordon Foster.
