Anita Rani and Charlotte Smith travel to Dorset, where 80 years ago tens of thousands of troops amassed as the Allies’ combined forces prepared for D-Day. The remnants of this momentous undertaking can still be seen in the local area to this day, with austere bunkers looking out to sea, sunken tanks lying offshore and the silent streets of a Dorset village, still frozen in time after it was commandeered for the war effort.\n \nAnita explores vestiges of the formidable D-Day dress rehearsal that took place on Studland Bay – chosen for its similarities to the Normandy landing beaches.\n \nCharlotte visits the local tank museum to learn how machinery designed for the landscape of northern France was trialled on Dorset beaches.\n \nAdam Henson looks at how farming changed during the Second World War, helping the country prepare for D-Day. And Tom Heap investigates opposition to new 4G masts planned for some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Scotland.
