Evan is furious with Polly for revealing the secrets of his home life to her mum. He was doing fine. Now what will happen to him and his dad? He will never forgive her. Upset, Polly tries to fix things for Evan, begging her mum that Evan can stay with them. Polly wants to know what is going on but the adults won’t include her.\n\nMrs Morgan has called a vote of no confidence in Bell after the frequency of incidents involving badly-behaved pupils. Bell decides he can persuade the other governors the school is okay by staging a prize-giving to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Elmsmere students.\n\nBell suggests to Owen and Chester that one of them will be announced as Star Pupil at the end of the day. Locked in competition, neither of them can wait until the ceremony to find out who has won, so they break into Bell’s office to find out the result. But in doing so they trash the place, and instead of being crowned star pupil they are both sent home with a letter to their parents about their terrible behaviour.\n\nThrough a misunderstanding, Eli believes he is going to be awarded Star Pupil. He eventually decides to turn the award down (confusing Bell, who was never going to give it to him in the first place). Eli remains convinced the award was his for the taking.\n\nPolly decides Evan will feel less left out if he’s voted as Pupil of the Year. Bell dismisses the idea as absurd.\n\nEventually Polly bursts into a meeting and tells everyone they can’t send Evan away. But it’s Evan who calms her down. He tells her his dad wasn’t coping, that the intervention is good and that he needs the help. He’s going to stay with his aunt – in Wales.\n\nPolly wonders what will happen with her relationship with Evan long term – but for now, things feel better.\n\nAnd for her selflessness in trying to help Evan, it’s Polly who is voted Pupil of the Year.\n\nDanny decides to award some alternative prizes to the less able kids. Fleur is scornful – until she gets a good friendship prize for helping Polly and realises that school really can celebrate more than just academic achievements.\n\nNunn and Isaac decide to settle a bet over whose job has the best equipment by having a lawnmower and floor-polisher race. Isaac pulls out at the last minute but to stop Nunn mocking Isaac, Darnesh steps in and rides the polisher. However, he can’t control it and smashes into Bell’s car. Nunn is pleased to have won the race – but then gets in trouble because he was the adult supervision the kids. \n\nBut when Darnesh gives Nunn a consolation prise, Nunn can’t contain his emotion, and declares tearfully. Yes! I’m a winner!
