Series 28: 25. Sing for Your Supper

Greater Manchester is the playground for the final foray into antiques revelry for auctioneer Charles Hanson and dealer Roo Irvine. Bouncing along in their 1970s sky blue camper van, we have a high-energy adventure around the north west of England. Our giddy-with-excitement pals have £400 each to spend in the last battle of their best-of-five auction contest. \n\nBeginning in Stockport, Roo buys a bumper selection of antiques goodies, from a 19th-century rococo revival clock garniture to a very large late-Victorian lantern. A lover of all things Georgian, Charles buys a George II glass patch stand in Poynton. Competition is high between our pair as they take on a race with a difference. \n\nCharles's bag of delights includes an art nouveau hair comb, WWI shell cases fashioned as Victorian booties and a silver and mixed agate Scottish dirk brooch. From Stockport to Atherton, the antiques radar is switched firmly to on as they hunt for treasures that can hopefully make marvellous moolah at auction. \n\nCharles also squeezes in a visit to Huddersfield in West Yorkshire to find out about Mrs Sunderland, the glorious singing sensation that wowed Queen Victoria. Susan Sunderland was such a phenomenal success that a music festival that bears her name still endures to this day, over 130 years later. Charles jumps at the chance to show off his musicality. What a maestro!\n\nAfter a glorious week travelling around the country, Charles and Roo finally reach the all-important auction finale showdown in Bristol.
