Remembrance Sunday

Katherine Jenkins marks Remembrance Sunday at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire, the oldest air academy in the world. She meets cadets and the head padre to discover how remembrance plays an important part in daily life and training at Cranwell. At the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln, Katherine speaks to retired squadron leader Bob Ankerson, who reflects on those commemorated in the memorial gardens and shares how his faith sustained him as a prisoner of war in Iraq.\n\nSean Fletcher joins RAF personnel at the Commonwealth Air Force Memorial in Surrey. Marking its 70th anniversary, the memorial honours the 20,000 air service men and women from across the commonwealth who gave their lives in World War II but have no named grave. Sean meets Peter Clare, for whom the monument is one of the only connections he has to his father who was killed in action in 1942.\n\nIn the Lincolnshire village of Chapel Hill, Katherine meets 90-year-old Gwen Tomlinson, who recalls vivid childhood memories of how a local family she knew were wiped out by a Luftwaffe bomb.
