Jay Blades and the team breathe new life into three cherished possessions, awakening the memories they hold.\n\nFirst in through the barn doors are Nina and Santinder Maan, who are hoping Dominic Chinea will use his signwriting skills to rescue a shop front sign that is slowly disintegrating. The plywood sign hung on their late mother’s corner shop in a Berkshire village. Prakash owned and ran the community shop selling fresh vegetables and general produce for 27 years. There was always service with a smile, and the shop soon became a hub in the village. Customers often became friends and joined the family for a cup of tea in the back room of the shop. Three generations grew up in the flat above the shop, and Nina and Santinder look back fondly on those years. When they shut up shop for the last time, the family kept the sign as a reminder. But it is now crumbling, the plywood is splitting and the paint flaking away. Dom arms himself with his best brushes and paints, and gets to work. \n\nLeather expert Suzie Fletcher is next to receive a visitor. Mark Whitmore has brought along a precious reminder of a wonderful son. The leather braided bracelet belonged to an incredible young man called Michael who always lived life to the full. He bought it while travelling to far-flung places and wore it every day. The family were devastated when he was killed in a motorbike accident at the age of 28. Mark’s wife, Sue, has found wearing the bracelet herself a great comfort, but it’s now so dry and fragile, Sue is reluctant to continue wearing it. Suzie must carefully reinforce the leather and attach a fastening so that it can be worn with confidence and continue to be a reminder of a much-missed son.\n\nFinally, Chris Fay and his father-in-law Nick Arnold are delivering a charming stone statue of a dancing bear which Nick bought in Canada to celebrate an anniversary. The hefty item was transported back to the family home, where it sat on a shelf in the kitchen for all to admire. Then, one fateful Christmas several years ago, Chris, who was then dating Nick's daughter, came for lunch. He accidentally knocked it off the shelf, and as it hit the ground, several sections broke off - something he still feels dreadful about. Fortunately for Chris, conservator Kirsten Ramsay comes to the rescue and redeems him - and all is forgiven.
