Presenter and author Katie Thistleton joins award-winning performance poet and new children’s laureate Joseph Coelho live from Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire for a fantastic Live Lesson to celebrate this year’s National Poetry Day.\n\nTogether, Katie and Joseph explore the stunning abbey and come up with poetry ideas inspired by this year’s official National Poetry Day theme – the environment.\n\nThis educational programme is packed with poetry tips and advice – from how we can use our senses to write about what our local environment means to us to how we can use similes and metaphors to help shape our poems. Katie, Joseph and other special poet guests also demonstrate performance techniques and how to use emotion in poetry.\n\nThroughout this live programme, Joseph creates an acrostic poem inspired by contributions from schools across the UK.
