Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir is among the leading home nations athletes competing at the Alexander Stadium on the eighth morning of Commonwealth Games action.\n\nMuir will be expected to progress through the 1,500m heats in her first Commonwealth Games race over the distance since coming 11th at Glasgow 2014. Sprint hurdler Cindy Sember and England’s female long jumpers, led by world indoor medallist Lorraine Ugen, are also in qualifying action.\n\nScottish diver Grace Reid begins the defence of her 1m springboard title at the £73m Sandwell Aquatics Centre, while Jack Laugher and his new partner Ant Harding are favourites in the men’s synchronised 3m event, while there's further action from lawn bowls.
