The stakes are raised this week as arriving at the design studio, the designers discover they have to undertake their biggest project so far. With five designers left, Michelle puts them into a team of two and a team of three, and tells them they have a whole holiday lodge to design, including a bedroom each and a shared kitchen/diner and outdoor space.\n\nWith no extra time, the teams have their work cut out and need to work in harmony, to complete this challenge in two days and prove to Michelle their designs are worthy of a place in the next round. The team that succeeds will be safe from elimination, and someone from the losing team will be sent home.\n\nAs the teams arrive in the Lincolnshire Wolds, they discover two bland lodges with views to die for but with interiors that could do with a sprinkling of design magic to bring them up to scratch. With some designers pleasantly surprised that the spaces aren’t quite as daunting as first thought, others appreciate that redesigning the lodges in the time allowed is a big undertaking.\n\nAs the task gets under way, keen to prove themselves, two of the designers pull plans together and work hard for the good of the team. With some striking design features and clever ideas, can one member of the team, notorious for her design ambitions, rein in her ideas, or will her ambition get the better of her and leave the lodge unfinished for the judges?\n\nOn the team of three, things aren’t so harmonious as the relationship between two of the designers is fraught with tension. With completely contrasting design styles, it is impossible for them to agree, which ends up with one of them feeling sidelined. Will they be able to put their differences aside and design a lodge that feels suitable for their target market, or will it feel it fall flat and fail to impress the judges?\n\nHelping Michelle this week is guest judge Abigail Ahern. Abigail is an influential tastemaker always ahead of the design trail, whether pioneering faux flowers or dark, inky colour palettes. With trendsetting eclectic designs and a portfolio that spans lavish residential properties to the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach hotel, she knows more than most what makes winning interior design. Judging the studios, Michelle and Abigail are impressed with the bold design choices by some contestants, but disappointed to see that not every space lives up to their expectations. \n\nChallenge over, the teams return to Michelle’s design studio to hear the verdict from Fearne. There is joy and celebration for one team, as they take one step closer to the semi-finals, but for the losing designers, there are tough lessons to learn as they face the judges on the sofa. Finally for one designer it is the end of the road as Michelle tells them their time in the competition has come to an end, which leaves just four designers left.
