Jay Blades and the team bring three treasured family heirlooms, and the memories they hold, back to life.\n\nHorologist Steve Fletcher is the first of the barn’s experts to have his talents tested. Lucy Briggs has brought in a small vintage toy car that once belonged to her father. Lucy and her father were very close and since his death she has been keen to keep his treasured possessions in good condition. Unfortunately, this little car has spent a number of years sitting in the garage, leaving its tyres flat, bodywork rusty and motor kaput. It’s down to Steve and his mechanical know-how to get this treasured motor back on the road. \n\nThe next challenge is for the barn’s bookbinding expert Chris Shaw. Danny Watts arrives with a very well worn and damaged scrapbook. Dedicated to Danny’s grandad, a legendary amateur footballer in the 1930s, this scrapbook was made by sisters who followed his career. Now Danny would like to rescue it for his own son, who is just starting out as a semi-professional player. But the brittle and faded newspaper cuttings and crumbling programmes make this one of Chris’s toughest tasks yet. \n\nFinally, a tricky case for leatherwork expert Suzie Fletcher. Italo Cerullo’s father bought him the once-smart leather briefcase as he embarked on his fledgling legal career. Sadly, Italo’s father died later that year. Italo was just 22 at the time, and his father, who came from a poor agricultural family deep in the south of Italy, was clearly proud of his son’s achievements. The case has been very well used over the intervening years and is now full of holes and missing straps. Italo would love to be able to use it once again and eventually pass it on to his own son, who is also studying law.
