Eric kicks up a fuss when he finds out that the U12s’ next match has been moved to tomorrow. He tells Molly that he won’t be able to play - he’s got something else he has to do. She probes but he tells her it’s none of her business, leading her to quiz Freddie for more information, but to no avail. Eric is incensed but, when she threatens to ask his dad, begs her not to. Eric finds out Molly quizzed Freddie about him and she might try his dad as well. He can’t bring himself to reveal anything else but Molly takes pity on him and lets him share her dinner.\n\nMeanwhile, Jamie and Ian are enjoying spending time together as Ian does various jobs around the club. A negative encounter with Molly leaves Ian asking why she’s got it in for Jamie - Jamie hadn’t thought it was personal but now he has his doubts. Then Duncan drops by and invites them to a VIP event at Hawkstone United’s game that evening. Ian and Jamie are chuffed.\n\nMolly coaxes Eric into revealing that his brother died a year ago and tomorrow is the anniversary of his death. He wants to go and lay flowers on his grave, which means we wouldn’t be able to play in the match. Molly offers to take him to the cemetery so he can pay his respects but still play in the match if he wants to.\n\nBefore the Hawkstone match, Duncan schmoozes Ian and introduces him and Jamie to footballer Oli McBurnie, who tells them both they should listen to Duncan and trust what he has to say. They’re both impressed. Jamie heads off to watch the game – where he bumps into Zoe, who says Molly got her a ticket. Ruby and Dillon are also there thanks to Molly, leaving Jamie feeling even more sceptical about Molly treating him differently. However, Molly then spots Jamie and calls him down on to the pitch at half-time to help her and Ruby with a penalty shoot-out for some young fans. Jamie enjoys himself and Molly tells him she knows he’s a special player. She helps other players more because they need more help. \n\nMeanwhile, Duncan sows seeds of doubt in Ian’s mind about Jamie’s future. Is Phoenix the best place for him? The next day he asks Ian to sign a contract giving Duncan permission to start negotiations on Jamie’s behalf. Ian is torn but ultimately sees Jamie enjoying himself at Phoenix now and, for once in his life, he does the right thing. He keeps the contract but later knocks it to the floor in the Goodfield Park clubhouse, where it slides underneath a piece of furniture.\n\nMolly takes Eric to the cemetery where they have a helpful heart-to-heart about Eric’s conflicted feelings about playing football and about his strained relationship with his dad – who has also been to the grave without telling Eric. This helps Eric find a kind of peace and he is encouraged to start playing football for his dead brother Ryan, rather than in spite of him. Eric subsequently plays a blinder in the U12s’ match. They are the form team.
