The lives of the park’s rock hyrax babies hang in the balance as their mum is taken to the vets for an urgent medical investigation. The keepers have spotted worrying lumps on the mum, Dozy, which might be affecting how her youngsters feed from her. With Dozy at the vets, the babies are alone, so it’s a race against time to do the investigation and get mum back to her babies before they get too hungry.\n\nElsewhere, there are some arrivals in the park who have been missing since the mid-nineteenth century – red squirrels. Their numbers have dwindled as they face competition from the non-native grey squirrels that are destroying the natural parkland. The keepers are embarking on a red squirrel breeding programme to help save these beautiful animals from extinction in the UK, but they need to create an enclosure that encourages the squirrels to mate.\n\nMeanwhile, Kate helps keep the cheetah in peak physical condition with some high-intensity training, Ben creates a mud bath for the European wolves, and out on safari Jean Johansson learns how to recognise individual zebras and tests the eyesight of an ostrich.
