Great British Menu continues with the North West regional heat. Competing for the top spot are four chefs appearing for the first time in the competition. Two are Liverpudlian: Chinese cuisine enthusiast Dave Critchley and Dan McGeorge, winner of the 2020 Acorn Award recognising young talent in hospitality. Meanwhile, Ashwani Rangta is head chef at GupShup in Hale, Cheshire, and vegan chef Kirk Haworth is a former North West Young Chef of the Year. \n\nPresenter Andi Oliver welcomes them to the kitchen, where the theme for this year’s competition is a celebration of British invention and innovation. One of the four must leave the competition at the end of the episode. Which one that is will be decided by the veteran judge of the competition, a previous winner who remains a surprise to the chefs until the moment he or she walks into the kitchen to taste the canapés.
